“Kinesis” swing

“Kinesis” is not an ordinary swing, made of 100% hemp!

The idea of the “Kinesis” project was to develop a design, mass-consumer product using some alternative and sustainable materials.

In fact, all the “Kinesis’s” components are made of different hemp-based materials such as hemp rope and a bio-composite material used for seat and handles, which mixes hemp fiber with natural binder.

A hemp fiber has plenty of advantages: it is light, water-resistant, strong and durable. The material’s mechanical resistance characteristics are well shown in bending & tensile stresses.

All these benefits make the “Kinesis” swing the product that might replace popular and modern plastic swings.

The “Kinesis” project, will take a part in the exhibition dedicated to different design objects made of hemp-based materials and will be exposed during Milan Design Week 2017.

hybrid production 3.0
hybrid production 3.0

Design 3.0/experiments new forms of hybrid production:

designers become the makers, the producers of their ideas, bypassing traditional production and distribution systems

Products are conceived, assembled and distruibuted by the designers themselves, who experiment and find a new dimension between craftsmanship and industrial production, a contemporary dimension in coherence with the historical and economical era we are into.

The process consists in a series of self-produced objects built with a system of 3D printed joints and some easily found elements made out of wood or plastic. Every object can be easily assembled and disassembled for easier shipping and end of the cycle recycling.
